The Chinese Association of Tower Hamlets (CATH) is the first charity to be based in Tower Hamlets and the originator of all community support services for the immigrant Chinese and Vietnamese people living in the East London area.
CATH was established in 1983, when it started the Chinese Welfare Project. It has served one of the longest established Chinese communities, and indeed one of the largest, for over twenty years. The range of services CATH provides has expanded to cope with the needs of its clients and it now includes training and educational programmes, advice and counselling services as well as community care services. The Home Care Service is part of the Association's Elderly Service provision and is based at 680 Commercial Road in Tower Hamlets. The service is made up of one full-time Home Care Manager, one full-time Centre Manager, one part-time Advocacy Co-ordinator and a pool of bi-lingual Home Care Workers. The majority of our service users are older people of Chinese origin, but the service also addresses the needs of disabled adults. |
